Deadly Shooting at Houston House Party Leaves 15 Injured, One Dead

A shooting in Houston has left 15 people injured and one person dead.

Police arrived at the scene on Cherryhill shortly before 1 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. The Houston Police Department reported that witnesses stated the shooting took place during a large house party.

An altercation occurred during the event, resulting in multiple gunshots being fired. Assistant Chief Patricia Cantu explained that the incident started when an uninvited guest was asked to leave, which led to the shooting. “He left. As he was leaving, he began shooting in the area,” Cantu said. “Residents also returned fire.”

An 18-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

At least 15 other individuals were transported to various local hospitals by paramedics from the Houston Fire Department or by private vehicles. The ages of those injured range from 16 to 40 years old. Their identities and conditions have not yet been disclosed.

Several individuals were detained at the scene for questioning but have since been released. Currently, no suspects are in custody.

The investigation is still ongoing.
