
Former Balch Springs Officer Roy Oliver’s attorneys requested for change of venue for their clients trial saying that it was prejudicial and harmful.
Oliver’s defense attorneys argued that their client would not receive a fair trial in Dallas County due to all the negative pre trial publicity about the case.
Oliver is on trial for killing Jordan Edwards,15 back in April of last year when he fired his gun into a vehicle leaving a party.
Judge Brandon Birmingham denied the request for change of venue Tuesday morning in a hearing. He also said he does believe the case has received extensive coverage but decided that it hadn’t negatively affected a jury pool.
Oliver is being charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
and the trial will begin August 16,2018
