Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is wanted for attempted murder in Miami in connection with a shooting that occurred last month during a celebrity boxing event.
The arrest warrant stems from an incident in May when Brown was detained after an altercation outside the event that ended with gunfire.
On May 16, officers responded to the scene after ShotSpotter, a gunshot detection system, alerted authorities around midnight.
An off-duty security guard at the event reported that he left after hearing gunshots and later observed Brown involved in a physical confrontation with another man.
Witnesses in the parking lot identified Brown as the person who fired the gun.
Although Brown was unarmed when he was searched, officers recovered two spent shell casings and an empty holster.
Brown was released later that night, posting on social media that he had been jumped and that jewelry had been stolen from him.
According to the arrest warrant, police reviewed video footage showing Brown punching another man during the fight. The footage also appears to show him taking a security officer’s firearm and rushing toward the man he punched.
Cellphone videos captured two gunshots as Brown approached the victim, which supports the initial findings.
The victim was grazed in the neck by a bullet, and a struggle over the firearm ensued before police arrived. Brown then walked away from the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.
