A foster mother in North Carolina has been charged following the death of a 7-month-old girl, who authorities believe was left in a hot car on a day when temperatures reached 90 degrees.
On June 9th at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers responded to a medical emergency on Charlotte Street.
When they arrived, they found the baby unresponsive and immediately began life-saving measures. The infant was then airlifted to a hospital, but unfortunately, she later died from heat-related causes.
It remains unknown how long the child was left alone inside the hot minivan.
Djuna Bostick, 59, was taken into custody and faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and negligent child abuse.
She is being held at Richmond County Jail with a $500,000 bond.
