Six severed human heads were found along a roadway between the Mexican states of Puebla and Tlaxcala.
The discovery was made around 6:45 a.m. on August 19, following a 911 call reporting the scene.
Officials confirmed that police and forensic experts from the Institute of Forensic Sciences responded to investigate the scene, where all victims were males. The heads were in advanced decomposition, with one head bearing a banner bearing the name of the criminal organization “La Barredora.”
As of August 20, authorities have not released the identities of the victims.
The motive for the killings remains unclear.
