A teacher in Irving has been taken into custody after allegedly inflicting repeated harm to a 4-year-old boy.
The child’s mother contacted Irving police, raising concerns that the teacher was physically abusing her son. On July 11, she took her son to the Irving Family Advocacy Center, where signs of physical and emotional abuse were noted.
The suspect associated with the allegations is Sandra Johnson Randall, 62 years old, who works as a childcare provider at Sloan School in Irving.
Police interviewed the boy, who described being hurt by Randall’s actions, including “tucking him in tightly, grabbing his face, and scratching it,” according to the affidavit.
On July 23, detectives obtained security footage from the school showing Randall forcibly grabbing the boy’s face on July 20. The following day, the boy’s mother presented police with a photograph showing a scratch on his face.
Investigators concluded that Randall’s actions were unwarranted and caused injury to the child.
She has been charged with injury to a minor.
