A man is in custody after allegedly shooting at Rockwall police when they responded to a call Monday night.

According to reports, the suspect, 49-year-old Harold Eugene Jones III, contacted police around 9:22 p.m. to report that two people were in his attic at the 2500 block of Wagonwheel Drive.

When officers arrived, they found Jones standing outside near a vehicle. He reportedly began yelling at an officer before firing multiple shots in their direction, though officers did not return fire.

Jones then fled into a nearby home he did not reside in and surrendered shortly afterward. He was arrested peacefully and booked into Rockwall County jail. His bond has been set at $2.5 million on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer.

Prior to leaving the scene, officers checked with neighboring residents to ensure no one was injured, and no injuries were reported during the incident.
