Homicide detectives have officially charged 29-year-old Tony Wray with murder in connection to the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Charqwan Howse outside Wray’s Walker Terrace apartment on Tuesday night.

Shortly before midnight, officers responded to the scene and discovered Howse critically injured on the sidewalk. Emergency personnel provided medical aid until North Texas Fire Rescue arrived. Despite their efforts, Howse was declared dead at the scene. Wray was present, armed with a handgun, which officers recovered after detaining him.

Investigators then transported Wray and several witnesses to police headquarters for further questioning. Wray’s pregnant girlfriend indicated that they had argued prior to the shooting and that he had physically assaulted her. She subsequently called a relative, who arrived at the apartment with Howse to try to de-escalate the situation.

According to reports, the relative, Howse, and a second woman approached Wray on the front porch during the dispute over the earlier assault. Wray is accused of shooting Howse without any additional provocation.

In addition to the homicide charge, Wray faces two counts of aggravated assault related to his girlfriend and one more count of aggravated assault against a second woman or witness.
