Mesquite Teen Arrested in Connection to Deadly Shooting of 16-Year-Old and Injuries to 15-Year-Old

A juvenile has been detained in connection with a shooting on Thursday night that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old and injuries to a 15-year-old.

On July 24, around 9:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 2100 block of Pecan Creek Drive. Upon arrival, they found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound, who was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

A second victim, a 16-year-old, was located nearby and pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, authorities identified a 15-year-old male suspect, who was arrested at approximately 10:05 a.m. on Saturday by detectives.

The identities of both victims and the suspect have not been disclosed.

This remains an active investigation.
