A mother is looking for justice after her son was fatally shot outside a Mesquite apartment.
On June 15, 2025, around 12:58 a.m., officers responded to the 2800 block of Franklin Drive after reports of a fight involving multiple individuals in the parking lot. When they arrived, emergency responders found 23-year-old Kemarius Mack suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police have conducted multiple interviews, including with the suspect, who contacted law enforcement immediately after the incident and claims self-defense. Evidence collected from the scene is currently under analysis. As the investigation continues, authorities will decide whether additional charges are appropriate.
Additionally, officials want to clarify that officers provided medical assistance that went beyond CPR, including the use of a chest seal and continuing life-saving measures. One person was arrested at the scene for interfering with official police duties, as he impeded officers while they worked to save Mack.
The investigation remains active, and further details will be released as they become available.
