DeSoto police are investigating a shooting that injured a 16-year-old girl.

On Sunday at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunfire in the 500 block of Edmonds Way.

When they arrived, officials found the teenage girl in the front yard of a nearby residence with gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

According to reports, the victim had recently attended a party on the 500 block of Buckingham Place, which officers had dispersed prior to the shooting.

Shortly after the party ended, the girl was standing with several teens outside a home on Buckingham Place when an unidentified suspect approached on foot and fired multiple shots, hitting her twice.

Authorities believe the suspect fled the scene in a dark sedan before law enforcement arrived.

The victim was able to run away from the scene and was later located by officers on Edmonds Way.

DeSoto police continue to investigate the case and have not made any arrests at this time.
