A woman from Texas has been formally charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing two of her children and injuring two others.

On October 4, 2025, around 4:48 a.m., Brazoria County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a shooting involving multiple children.

Evidence shows that the driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Oninda Romelus, is the mother of the four children and the suspected shooter.

All four children sustained gunshot wounds. Sadly, a 13-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl were pronounced dead at the scene. The 8-year-old boy and 9-year-old girl were transported to a hospital in the Houston area and are in stable condition.

The incident is believed to have occurred inside the vehicle. Deputies arrived quickly, providing lifesaving aid to the children until medical personnel could take over. Their prompt actions are credited with saving at least one child’s life.

Romelus was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her bond was set at $14 million.

The investigation remains active, with authorities from the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office and partner agencies continuing to collect and examine evidence to ensure justice for the victims.
