On Thursday, 22-year-old Matt Araiza, a special teams player for the Buffalo Bills, was accused of gang-raping a 17-year-old girl. The incident is said to have occured last year when he attended San Diego State University.
Court documents allege that Araiza, also known as “Punt God” had sex with the minor outside a residence. He is accused of then taking her to an on-campus party where she was raped several times.
Claims against two other men were made in the incident, as well.
The supposed victim was still in high school at the time and says she was in and out of consciousness during the incident. However, she remembers the men raping her continuously.
The NFLs attorney, Kerry Armstrong, stated that the allegations aren’t true even though he hasn’t looked through the lawsuit. He added that many witnesses have contradicted the claims.
Zavier Leonard and Nowlin Ewaliko are the two other men named in the lawsuit. All three of the players were on the Bills’ roster last year. Leonard is on the roster this year.
No apprehensions have been made in the matter. San Diego Police investigators were reported to have given their report to the San Diego District Attorney’s Office. There, it will be decided if the three men will face criminal charges.
