Cleveland Browns quarterback, Deshaun Watson, has been suspended for 11 games and fined $5 million after he received dozens of sexual assault allegations.
The final ruling in the disciplinary case against Watson was announced Thursday, ordering him to pay the largest fine in NFL history.
Initially, Watson was only suspended for 6 games when the league found out he committed sexual assault during massage sessions, violating the NFL’s code of conduct standards. However, after two dozen women came forward accusing him of sexual assault, the NFL argued that punishment wasn’t enough and appealed the decision.
In the end, the league and the player’s association reached a settlement suspending him for 11 games and a $5 million fine. Watson must also partake in an evaluation by behavioral experts.
