November 10th has been officially named as Sha’Carri Richardson Day in Dallas.
On Friday morning, Richardson talked about how winning the world championship in the 100 meters had altered her whole life.
Friday was about honoring Richardson and highlighting John E. Kincade Stadium being renamed after her. However, it was also an opportunity for students in Dallas ISD to be inspired by the fastest woman in the world.
“Im really speechless. Life is full circle, and this is one of those full-circle moments, being able to stand in the stadium, in my hometown, where I basically started my career as a track athlete and my city showing me love and support. I love the city, and I’m excited to continue to inspire my city, because Dallas is the best,” Richardson exclaimed.
“I hope this communicates not to just in my community, but to children, to adults, that there is so much more. Never forget where you come from. You want to use it as motivation.”
