A New York state police officer, who had been off-duty, fatally shot a 27-year-old woman, injured another woman, and then killed herself.
The incident occurred on Monday evening, at about 7:30 p.m., Rochester police say.
Tiffani Gatson, 29, had been with the Greece Police Department since 2018. She had shot the two women at a residence in Rochester prior to her dying my suicide.
All three women were discovered outside of the home with gunshot injuries.
27-year-old Angely Solis was declared deceased at the location.
An unidentified woman in her 30s suffered several gunshot wounds to her upper body and was taken to a medical facility.
Gatson was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital where she died.
Authorities found a 9mm handgun at the location but say that it wasn’t Gatson’s service weapon.
Reports indicate that the two victims were related. However, police didn’t disclose the relationship between Gatson and the victims.
Gatson was said to be the first African American female police officer on her force.
