Officer Struck In Head While Serving Warrant

A Cockrell Hill police officer was struck in the head by a suspect Tuesday evening while serving a warrant.
According to reports the officer went to Clarendon and Gilpin to serve a health warrant and when he got to the door the suspect struck him across the head with some sort of stick.
The officer then called Dallas police for backup and was transported to a nearby hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The unidentified suspect then closed the door and barricades himself inside the home until SWAT arrived.
Once SWAT arrived they were able to remove the man from the home peacefully without injury.
He was arrested on the warrant and also charged with assault on an officer.
