A police officer in Florida has been suspended after her was stopped for drunk driving while heading to work.
The incident was captured on body cam video. Authorities in Eustis responded to a call on South Avenue in regards to a reckless driver. A police officer was then discovered to be driving the car.
After a breathalyzer revealed that he was five times over the legal limit, Oscar Mayorga, 25, was taken into custody. He disclosed to authorities that he was on his way to work.
Camera footage of the incident depicts Mayorga seemingly dazed and leaning on his car. He speech was slurred, as well.
Initially, Mayorga stated that he had taken three Benadryl pills, but eventually, he confessed to drinking three cans of Modelo. This is in addition to the one in his car that was seen on the recording. Alcohol could also be smelled on his breath.
Mayorga, who has been with the department for five years, has been suspended without pay. His uniform, weapon, and vehicle have been turned in.
He was freed from the Lake County Jail on Tuesday, and an investigation is on-going.
