Red Power Ranger Actor, Austin St. John, Arrested For COVID Fraud After FBI Raided His McKinney Home
Actor Austin St. John is most noted for his role as the Red Power Ranger in the 90s series and films. Now, he has been apprehended on fraud charges after his residence was raided by the FBI.
On Thursday, armed FBI agents combed through St. John’s home in McKinney, Texas. As they were leaving, St. John could be seen exiting the home in handcuffs.
Reports indicate that the actor is among 18 individuals that are a part of a huge federal indictment. This involves an operation to exploit the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program to assist businesses affected by COVID-19.
Authorities say that St. John took out 16 PPP loans by providing false information. The loans amounted to $3.5 million.
Now, St.John, 47, has been charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
“.. the indictment detailed today is populated by a multitude of individuals- the majority of which Austin has no knowledge of , and had never met or interacted with. It’s our understanding that Austin put his faith, reputation, and finances in the hands of third parties who goals…manipulated his trust,” a statement read on St. John’s Instagram account on Friday.
If found guilty, the actor and the other 17 people could receive up to 20 years in prison.
