A 21 year old Saginaw man is dead after knocking on a neighbors door in the middle of the night.
According to reports Andrew Russell,21 has a mental disorder and may have wandered off in the middle of the night.
Saginaw police responded to a shooting call on Babbling Brook Drive around 3:55am.
Officers say Russell went to two or three homes knocking on people’s door in the middle of the night.
The homeowner asked who it was and asked Russell to leave.
Police say Russell started to leave but then rushed back toward the homeowner who then fired multiple rounds, killing Russell.
Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage in the area that caught the incident.
Cynthia Williams, Russell’s mother said, “This was not justified. The homeowner could have secured himself in the home. He could have called 911. They could have spoken to him through the door, through a Ring camera.”
Russell’s family will be holding a candlelight vigil in his honor on Friday night at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Fort Worth.
