Sheryl Sandberg is departing from Meta as one of the most-known and most accomplished woman in tech. This comes after over $1.7 billion in stock sales.

On Wednesday, Sandberg stated that she is leaving her position as chief operating officer after working at Meta for 14 years. The company used to be known as Facebook. Sandberg will still have a role on the business’s board.

Forbes has listed Sandberg as being worth about $1.6 billion. This means that she is the second wealthiest woman in tech after  Meg Whitman. Whitman used to have the top position at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. She is worth about $3.2 billion.

Sandberg is also one of the few people who is not a CEO or Founder but is still a billionaire.

Although many corporate executives don’t sell their shares, that is not the case for Sandberg. She has always sold her Facebook or Meta stock.

According to research firms, Sandberg has sold 75% of her after-tax shares in the last 10 years. Altogether, she sold more than 22 million shares. This amounted to over $1.7 billion.

At first, the stock costs about $38 per share, in 2012. By September, it had increased to $382 per share. On average, Sandberg spent about $79.10 per share.

Even though Sandberg is a billionaire, she had spent her money modestly. She purchased a 9,200 square foot home in 2013. Then, she donated $107.2 million to a charity in 2016.

Sandberg stated that she is leaving Meta to complete her philanthropic work.
