On Wednesday, a Chicago jury convicted R. Kelly on multiple counts.

The singer was already given a 30-year sentence in New York, in 2021, after he was found guilty of sexually abusing young fans.

Now, he has been found guilty of child pornography and three counts of child enticement.

55-year-old Kelly faced a total of 13 counts. This includes obstructing justice by paying off an underage minor and witnesses, in the 2002 case, in Chicago. He was also charged with making and receiving child pornography and coercing minors into engaging in illegal sexual activity.

“Ladies and gentlemen. What R. Kelly wanted was to have sex with young girls,” stated the prosecutor in the case.

Kelly was found not guilty of 21 counts of child pornography, in 2008. This was after he was accused of conspiring to falsify material and pay off victims and others involved in the case.

The first victim, “Minor 1,” was younger than 14 when Kelly recorded himself engaging in sexual intercourse with her.

“Minor 1,” who is now 30, testified in the federal case.

Two of Kelly’s associates, Derrel McDavid and Milton Brown, were also identified in the lawsuit, claiming that they conspired to assist Kelly “quash the abuse allegations” against him.

“Minor 1” was introduced to Kelly in the 1990s, at a music studio, by her aunt, when she was a high school junior. She is said to have told her parents that Kelly was going to be her godfather.

Allegations were made, accusing Kelly of paying off both Minor 1 and her parents. One of the parents gave testimony in court.

Kelly won’t qualify to be released until he turns 80 years of age.
