A man from San Francisco has been accused of fatally shooting his father and stepmother. He has confessed to the killings and has given a motive.

23-year-old Irvin Hernandez Flores is being held in the San Francisco County Jail. This is for the homicide of his father, Jose Hernandez, 49, and his stepmother, Yesenia Soto Hernandez, 41.

Flores is a veteran who was in the Marines and desired to be a part of the San Francisco Police Department.

Jose Hernandez had been accused of sexually abusing a family member, and Flores admitted to being drunk the night the shooting occurred.

He told authorities that he went into their room and Jose barged at him. Thus, he shot his father.

“Once I emptied the clip, I turned on the lights, and I see him on the floor. I see his suffering, then I stopped his suffering,” Flores stated.

He added that he unintentionally shot his stepmother who had been caught in the crossfire.

Flores apologized for his actions, saying that he only “wanted to do good” for his relatives. He is said to have live-streamed the fatal shooting, and the couple’s 11-year-old daughter was in the residence at the time.

Flores has been charged with homicide, burglary, and child endangerment. No bail was granted.
