Charges against Dallas Pastor Rickie Rush, who is accused of raping two minors, will not be pursued in court.
A Dallas grand jury ruled that there wasn’t enough supporting evidence to indict the 63-year-old pastor in both criminal cases. Pastor Rush, the founder of Inspiring Body of Christ Church, is accused of raping a young teenage boy, 15 years ago.
The accuser, Marcus Bell Jr. alleges that the pastor raped him when he was 13. The second allegation that made it to court involves another individual that has chosen not to release details to the public.
In the last 10 years, the south Dallas church, IBOC, has gained attendees, totaling more than 10,000 members.
Several allegations arose over the last 4 years, however, detectives with the Dallas Police Department faced many roadblocks while pursuing the accusations.
In addition to the pandemic delaying in-person interviews, District Attorney John Creuzot was recused from the case due to having a personal relationship with Rush. These setbacks continued to delay the case and eventually, some of the accusations became too old to pursue.
Although the jury declined to indict Pastor Rush on the charges, Prosecutors can still put it back in motion if new evidence emerges.
