Starting In 2022, Chaining Up Dogs In Texas Will Be Illegal

7.9kviews

On Monday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed another bill that will go into effect in 2022.

Starting January 18, people in Texas will be banned from tying up their dogs outside with chains or heavy restraints while unattended.

Additionally, outdoor restraints have to be 10 feet long or five times the dog’s length from nose to tail.

Dog owners won’t be permitted to leave their dogs by themselves without proper shelter, shade, or drinkable water.

Right now, there is a law that prohibits authorities from taking action when dogs are in illegal situations for 24 hours. However, this will be eliminated.

Anyone that violates the new law will be subject to a Class C misdemeanor. This may result in a fine of up to $500. If a person continually violates it, they could be charged with a Class B misdemeanor.

There are some exceptions to the new  regulations such as when public camping, cultivating agricultural products, and a few more.

  1. Greetings! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could locate a captcha plugin for my comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having difficulty finding one? Thanks a lot!
