Authorities say that a 16-year-old boy in Pennsylvania is facing charges as an adult in connection to the shooting and killing of a 13-year-old girl.
Police in the city of Bensalem had gotten a call on Friday about a possible killing. The caller disclosed that her daughter had received an Instagram recording chat from a 16-year-old acquaintance. That was later determined to be Joshua Cooper.
In the chat, Cooper is said to have stated that he had just killed somebody and revealed a person’s hands and feet that were covered in blood. He then requested assistance in getting rid of the body.
When officers arrived to Cooper’s residence, they discovered a juvenile female in the restroom who was deceased. She had been lying on the floor with what seemed to be a gunshot injury. She was 13 years old.
Authorities added that measures had been taken to clean up the crime area.
Cooper had initially fled the location when officers had come but was later found and apprehended.
He is now facing charges of criminal homicide, possessing instruments of crime, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. A bail was denied, and Cooper was placed in the Edison Juvenile Detention Center.
A preliminary hearing will take place on Dec. 7, 2022.
