After David Martinez, 42, was fatally shot in a road rage incident, his fiancé, Blanca Castillo has sent a message to those in the Houston, Texas, area.

Martinez was killed Wednesday evening, around 9:20 p.m., in East Harris County in Channelview.

Authorities said that Ricardo Ramirez, 19, fatally shot Martinez in a road rage incident. The suspect was said to have been driving recklessly, going in and out of traffic.

After both Martinez and Ramirez arrived at the intersection of Dell Dale Ave. and Woodforest Blvd., Martinez exited his vehicle. He walked up to Ramirez’s car, and Ramirez fired at him. Martinez was found lying in the road with gunshot injuries.

“It was three shots, twice to the chest and one in the face. I just don’t understand. There was no need to shoot him in the face. That’s just evil,” Castillo stated.

Martinez passed away at a hospital.

Castillo says that he will be remembered for always taking on the father figure role. She believes that when he saw the young man driving erratically, Martinez was simply trying to educate or reason with him.

Martinez leaves three children to cherish his memory. This includes a 22-year-old son, a 5-year-old daughter, and a 1 year-old daughter.

“You leave kids never getting to know somebody that they love. It’s enough violence already. Learn how to process and count to 10, and slow down a little,” she added.

At first, the suspect had left the location. However, later on, his relatives were able to get him to go to a police station.

The 19-year-old has been charged with murder and is in custody without bail.
