A teenager assisted his younger sister from a supposed abductor by shooting that person with a slingshot.

On Wednesday, an 8-year-old girl was hunting for mushrooms in the back of her home in Alpena Township, Michigan. All of a sudden, a man came out from inside of the woods.

Authorities reported that the man then grabbed the girl from behind, covering her mouth and nose with his hands. He attempted to drag her into the woods.

The girl was able to get away as her 13-year-old brother observed what was happening and shot the man in the chest and head with a slingshot.

The assailant, 17, left the area but was later captured at a gas station that was close by. He admitted to authorities that was going to viciously beat the girl.

He has been charged with one count of attempted kidnapping/child enticement, attempted assault to do great bodily harm less than murder, and assault and battery. The unidentified teen will be charged as an adult, and his bond was set at $150,000.
