15 year-old Lauryn Ham was sucker-punched by an opposing team member during a basketball game in Southern California this past weekend.
Lauryn suffered a concussion and is now healing.
“The person in question went down the court and shot a 3-pointer, landed, fell backwards into my daughter…they got up and turned and were walking back down to the other side of the court. Then, her mom, says to her, ‘You need to hit her for that.’ And the child in question hit my daughter,” stated Alice Ham.
She added that her daughter was “disoriented’ after the game.
Furthermore, she says Lauryn is still suffering from the effects of the hit, can’t concentrate, and can’t go to school. She has filed a report with the police.
Relatives of the girl who hit Lauryn have obtained a lawyer.
The girl who threw the punch is the daughter of a former NBA player, Corey Benjamin. Benjamin has issued an apology to the other player, stating he was “shocked and disappointed” at his daughter’s actions.
