Texas Death-Row Inmate Files Lawsuit Against Prison Officials

4.5kviews

John Henry Ramirez, 37, has sued the state of Texas prison overseers. He wants permission for his pastor to be able to lay hands on him as he dies.

On September 8, he is supposed to be put to death. However, his attorneys filed a lawsuit in Corpus Christi on Tuesay because officials won’t let his pastor pray over him as he meets his fate.

In the filings, it requests that Pastor Dana Moore have the opportunity to be in the chamber with Ramirez the day he dies. The pastor of Second Baptist Church has been Ramirez’s spiritual leader for five years.

Authorities say in 2004, Ramirez stabbed Pablo Castro, a 45 year-old convience store worker in Corpus Christi, during a robbery. He only got $1.25 from the act.

Ramirez’s execution has already been postponed twice. The first time was in 2017 when he asked for a new lawyer.  The second was because of the pandemic.

  1. I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the layout of your site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two images. Maybe you could space it out better?|
