At around 5:15 p.m. on Saturday night, authorities responded to a 911 call in relation to an alleged hunting accident and a 11 year-old girl.

According to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, a man unintentionally shot his 11 year-old daughter with a high-powered rifle at a hunting lease in Hallsville, Texas.

When emergency crews arrived on scene, they discovered the child had life-threatening wounds. Although a care flight was requested, emergency helicopters couldn’t take off because of bad weather.

The child was then transported to a hospital in Longview where she died from her injuries.

“Anytime a young person loses their life, its tragic for all involved. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends during this difficult time,” Harrison County Sheriff B.J. Fletcher stated.

The Harrison County Sherriff’s office and Texas Parks and Wildlife department are investigating the matter.
