Thieves Slam Into SUV, Steal $20,000 At Gunpoint

During a robbery on the Upper East Side, in New York City, thieves slammed their vehicle into a SUV and stole $20,000 from the driver, on Saturday.

In a video circulating social media, a black Mercedes is seen ramming into a silver Toyota Rav4. Tires could be heard screeching, and bystanders ran for cover.

Authorities say that the incident happened on Second Avenue, close to 91st Street, around 4:40 p.m.

The Mercedes was observed accelerating towards the Toyota which was being navigated by a 55-year-old driver. It then ran into the SUV, causing it to spin around at an intersection.

The video then depicts the Mercedes slamming into the Rav4 again, knocking it onto the sidewalk. The SUV then attempted to take off. At that point, the Mercedes rammed into the Toyota another time, spinning it again, resulting in the SUV stopping.

A gunman wearing a gray sweatshirt and black pants exited the Mercedes and began hitting the window of the Toyota, on the passenger side. The man swiftly went to the driver’s side of the Toyota, next, prior to running back to the Mercedes and fleeing the scene.

The suspects got away with $20,000, officials say, and are still on the run.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
