Two Female Employees Fatally Shot At Senior Living Facility

Two women employees are dead following a shooting at a Maryland senior living facility Friday morning.
The incident happened at the Gateway Village, senior apartment complex around 9:15 on the 500 block of Suffolk Avenue.
According to reports a male resident had complained about the mistreatment of the residents.
Moments later residents heard multiple shots being fired.

When officers arrived they found one female employee unresponsive in the office and the other in the corridor.
Both employees were pronounced dead at the scene.
The alleged gunman, whose identity has not been released, was arrested without incident.
National Church Residences, who oversees the facility, released the following statement:
“ We are extremely heartbroken by the events that occurred this morning at our affordable housing property Gateway Village, in Capitol Heights, Maryland. We are proud of the heroic and swift actions of our staff to ensure that our residents were protected and kept safe. Our hearts go out to the families of our two team members who lost their lives in this tragic and unfortunate incident. We are fully cooperating with authorities as they further investigate the details of the situation.”
