1.8kviews

Tyson Foods is recalling about 8.5 million pounds of frozen, cooked chicken for suspected listeria contamination.

The recall affects Tyson branded foods and private label products for restaurants. Furthermore, Jet’s Pizza, Casey’s General Store, Marco’s Pizza, and Little Caesars are included.

The CDC says the foods were distributed to hospitals, nursing homes, restaurants, and schools throughout the country. Additionally, it may be associated with a listeria outbreak that has resulted in three sicknesses and one death.

Each package of the recalled foods has an establishment code of P-7089. Moreover, two sicknesses were in Texas and one in Delaware.

Some symptoms of listeria poisoning are  diarrhea and fever. Symptoms may begin 1 to 4 weeks after consumption. However, sometimes they don’t show up until at least 10 weeks after.

Pregnant women, adults over 65, and people with compromised immune systems have a greater risk for major illnesses from listeria.
