UK Mother Sentenced To 9 Years In Prison For Daughters Death

A UK mother was sentenced to nine years in jail Friday for the death of her daughter.

In December 2019 Verphy Kudi left her 20 month old daughter Asiah home alone for 6 days while she went to celebrate her 18th birthday.

During that time the infant became dehydrated and died of starvation.

Kudi lied about who was caring for her child and waited several hours after returning home to contact police.

When paramedics arrived they found Asiah non responsive and transported her to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

During the initial interview Kudi told authorities that the baby was with her the whole time except for during her trip to London.

However, after reviewing video footage in Kudi’s phone officers learned she was away from the infant for multiple days.

An autopsy determined the infants cause of death was starvation and influenza, with signs of dehydration and severe nappy rash.
