A UNT quarterback coach was arrested and charged with two counts of improper relationship between educator and student Thursday.
Tate Wallis is an assistant coach at UNT in Denton and is accused of having an improper relationship with a student in October and December of last year while he was a coach at Argyle High School.
He was hired as UNT’s assistant coach in January.
The university released a statement saying, “We have been made aware of the charges brought against a member of our football coaching staff for a matter unrelated to his employment at the university. The employee has been placed on administrative leave and will not be allowed on campus or to participate in any job related duties while on leave.”
Wallis posted a $20,000 bail Thursday.
UNT will take necessary action pending the outcome of the review.
