Birdville Student Expelled After Racist Video Targeting Burleson Athlete

169views

A student at Birdville High School was expelled after posting a racist video targeting a basketball player from Burleson Centennial High School.

The video edited 16-year-old Mason Williams’ face onto an enslaved character from Roots and was shared on Instagram through an account called “Birdville Barstool,” which claimed to represent the school’s student section but had no official affiliation with the campus. The account and its content have since been taken down.

Mason’s mother, Divona Phillips, said the video was deeply hurtful but praised her son for handling the situation with maturity. Birdville ISD identified the student within an hour, revoked his open enrollment status, and referred the case to law enforcement. Burleson Independent School District also condemned the video.

  1. Is expulsion the only consequence for the author of that sadistic racist? He should be sentenced to community service. Also he should be assigned a reading list of impactful novels and nonfiction works that would teach him humility, compassion, and respect for fellow human beings—because literature actually can do that! He should be made to pass an exam and an essay on each title. Then allowed back in school
