Warrant Issued For Female Corrections Officer That Went Missing With Capital Murder Suspect
On Monday, authorities announced that an arrest warrant has been issued for a jail official who is now accused of assisting a murder suspect in escaping from jail.
Vicki White is an assistant director of corrections at the Lauderdale County Detention Center, in Florence, Alabama.
38-year-old inmate Casey Cole White was waiting to stand trial when he and Vicki White exited the facility as he was shackled and handcuffed. This occurred in Florence, Alabama, on Friday.
The two haven’t been heard from since. The patrol vehicle that they were in when they left the detention center was discovered at a shopping location close by. This wasn’t until after authorities learned that they were gone.
Authorities have no knowledge of where the two are. They have stated that if anyone sees the two, it is best not to confront them.
“We consider both of them dangerous and in all probability, both individuals are armed,” said U.S. Marshal Marty Keely. He added that Casey White would be recognizable as he is 6 feet, 9 inches tall and nearly 260 pounds.
The arrest warrant for 56-year-old Vicki White is for permitting or allowing an escape. She and White aren’t related.
Police say Vicki White broke a policy that made it mandatory that more than one official be a part of transporting him. This was because officials believed that he attempted to escape when he was in jail two years ago.
“We know she participated, whether she did that willingly or if she was coerced, threatened…We know for sure she did participate,” stated a county sheriff.
Vicki White had told guards that she was transporting him to a courthouse. It was later learned that there was nothing scheduled.
Casey White had already been in prison on a 75-year sentence for attempted murder. He was about to go to trial for a capital murder charge after police say he stabbed a woman, 58, during a 2015 burglary.
A $10,000 reward has been offered by the U.S. Marshals Service for information.
