The woman who brought a gun into an Arlington Hospital Saturday morning is dead after Denton County Deputies shot her after locating her near a park.

Authorities say the woman walked into the ER at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital just before 9 a.m. Saturday with a gun in her hand and making suicidal comments.

A hospital security guard then confronted her and told her to leave. When Arlington Police arrived at the scene they were unable to locate the woman and a BOLO was issued for her immediate location.

Later in the day, a little after noon, the Denton County Sheriff’s Office located the woman’s vehicle unoccupied at the Greenbelt Corridor Park off University Drive.

Deputies began searching the park and surrounding areas for the woman, when they located her on the trails with a gun in her hand. According to deputies, the self-proclaimed-suicidal woman aimed her gun at them when they attempted to make contact.

Fearing for their life and the safety of others, Deputies fired their service weapons and struck the woman. They then rendered aid to her, however, she succumbed to her gunshot wounds.

The woman’s identity has not been released at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
