A Pennsylvania woman was sentenced to 11 to 23 months in jail after she kept her dead grandmothers remains inside a freezer while collecting her social security.

Cynthia Black,63 was also sentenced to an additional 2 years on probation after her prison sentence for abuse of a corpse.

On February 7, 2019 authorities responded to a foreclosed home in the Dillsburg area after two potential buyers noticed skeletal remains inside black bags.

The bags with skeletal remains were located inside a freezer in the basement. DNA results confirmed the remains to be Black’s grandmother, Glenora Reckord Delahay.

When authorities spoke with Black she told them Delahay died in 2004 in their Ardmore home.

She then bagged her remains and placed them in the freezer.

Black collected $186,000 from Social Security between 2001- 2010 and reportedly used the money to pay the mortgage.

An autopsy could not determine Delahay’s actual cause of death.
