A woman was shot and killed in her suv early Thursday morning as she slept next to her dog.
According to reports Dallas police were called out to the 1300 block of Grinnell Street for gunshots being fired and when they arrived they found a 65 year old woman unresponsive next to her dog with a gunshot wound in her chest.
The family told authorities that the unidentified woman had recently moved into the place and the dog was not allowed inside the residence so she chose to sleep outside in the vehicle with her dog. 
Authorities say they found two shell casings not far from the vehicle and believe she was shot by someone in a moving vehicle.
Detectives are investigating the shooting and no other information has been released at the time.
