A young stylist and salon owner was allegedly shot and killed in front of her children by her estranged husband last Thursday in a downtown Memphis apartment.
According to reports Yolanda Stripling received a phone call from her 8 year old granddaughter on April 25 saying “he killed my mama”.
Officers responded to a shooting call at 43 Muddy River Lane and when they arrived they found LaTarica Stripling dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
The 8 year old daughter saw Michael McKinnie shoot and killed her mother in front of her and tried to jump in front of her mother. Her 3 year old sister was also nearby sitting in a car seat.
Police issued a warrant for McKinnie’s arrest on suspicion of first degree murder, reckless endangerment and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
