At least three people—including the gunman—were killed, and more than a dozen others injured during a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis during morning drop-off.

The incident began around 8:15 a.m. during Sunday Mass, with police responding to reports of gunfire by 8:27 a.m., after neighbors heard loud shots. The shooter, armed with a rifle, shotgun, and pistol, fired through the church windows as children and worshipers sat in the pews, hitting multiple victims.

First responders moved quickly into the church to administer aid and rescue children hiding throughout the building. Tragically, two children aged 8 and 10 were pronounced dead while seated in the pews. Another 17 people, including 14 children, were wounded, with two children in critical condition.

The suspect, in his early 20s with no significant criminal history, committed suicide in the back of the church. Authorities are investigating a possible motive and have not released further details.

The Department of Homeland Security is monitoring the situation, with DHS Secretary Kristi Noem issuing a statement saying, “I am praying for the victims and their families during this heinous attack.”

This story is still developing.
