A 43-year-old man from Richardson is in a Florida jail waiting to get extradited to Texas for the murder of a 32-year-old Garland resident who was missing at the time.

On July 2, Richardson Police responded to 1801 North Greenville Ave. regarding a missing person out of Garland. Witnesses said the missing person was last seen on June 30 at an apartment rented by Ronald Martin, 43, of Richardson

At the scene, officers did not find the missing person or Martin at the apartment but found evidence of foul play. A few days later, the investigation led to the discovery of the missing person’s body and identified Ronald Martin as a suspect.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Martin and found out he had left Texas.

On July 8, 2024, Martin turned himself into the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida and will be sent back to Dallas County Jail.

The motive for the murder is still unknown, and the victim’s name has not been released to respect the family’s privacy.
