Family Demands Justice After Man Seen Being Punched During Florida Arrest

6views

A South Florida family is demanding answers after viral video showed Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies repeatedly punching 41-year-old Christopher Newkirk while he was being arrested in Tamarac.

Civilian footage appears to show three deputies holding Newkirk on the ground while striking him in the face and pulling his hair. His booking photo shows significant facial injuries, which family members say he did not have before the arrest.

Newkirk was pulled over for tinted windows and later arrested on multiple charges, including battery on a police officer and possession of drugs with intent to sell. Deputies claim he violently struggled and struck officers during the arrest.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office says Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into the incident.
