A San Jose Police Department sergeant, who was shot in the head by a carjacking suspect during a multi-city shooting spree, has been released from the hospital and is in good spirits. After a pursuit that ended near San Pedro Square, the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Mohamed Husien, crashed into a patrol car and opened fire, injuring the sergeant before being killed by police. The incident began on January 17 when Husien allegedly stole a red Corvette and committed several armed robberies.

San Jose Police Chief Paul Joseph confirmed that the wounded sergeant is expected to make a full recovery and has returned home to his dogs, who were brought to him in the hospital for comfort. The scene of the shooting was described as chaotic, with witnesses recounting the traumatic experience as they sought cover from gunfire.
