On Monday night, two attacks occurred at two different bars in Mexico. Eight women and three men lost their lives. Five other people were wounded.
One of the attacks happened close to 10 p.m., at the Gala Hotel and Bar in Celeya.
About 15 men with guns and wearing hoods arrived in two trucks and began to shoot their guns and threw two bombs. It was reported that at least 50 shots were fired.
The attack seem to be a part of a dispute between two drug cartels that both want to control the state of Guanajuato. Hand written signs at the scene seem to reveal that motive. Authorities haven’t released what the signs state.
Pictures from social media suggest that the assailants were from the Santa Rosa de Lima gang. The messages seemed to indicate that the bar’s owner supported the opposing gang, Jalisco cartel.
Some of the pictures depicted women lying in puddles of blood between tables. One of the bars also appeared to be partially burned.
Futhermore, observers say the attack occurred in less than a minute.
