A 12-year-old girl was arrested after she was said to have pulled a gun on another girl after a physical altercation on a school bus.
The incident occurred in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Friday, August 19, when the accused and someone else got into a fight and seemingly grabbed each other’s hair.
When the girl got off of the bus, she retrieved a firearm from a car and screamed outside of the bus which doors’ had been closed. She continued yelling and demanded to be let back on the bus but walked away when she was denied.
Video footage of the incident shows children yelling and crying while still on the school bus.
“She was being bullied, so that’s why she pulled out a firearm. When a child is under frustration and being bullied, she is supposed to have help with self-defense,” said the girl’s mother. Many have criticized the mom for supporting her daughter and justifying the behavior on a now-deleted social media post.
“Kids fight all the time, always have but to have access to a hand gun? Seriously screwed up,” commented one user.
The 12-year-old girl was taken into custody and faces a charge of aggravated assault. Her mother has been charged with aggravated assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
