Four Dallas men have been arrested after allegedly stealing $278,000 worth of alcohol from a North Texas distributor.
In April 2022, an investigation started once Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits officials contacted the TABC. They reported hundreds of cases of alcohol that they had no record of selling or delivering to the store.
During the TABC investigation, they discovered the store manager of Top Liquor Beer and Wine, located in the 7600 block of Greenville Avenue in Dallas, along with two other employees, illegally purchased the stolen items from a delivery driver.
TABC agents recovered 230 cases of vodka, 119 cases of cognac, and 29 cases of tequila. The alcohol was all valued at more than $34,000.
The total long-term losses could be more than $278,000, according to Southern Glazer’s.
The four arrested were 33-year-old Janish Pankaj Vaishnav, 34-year-old Victor Antonio Aguilar-Leon, 43-year-old Carlos Jaime Munoz, and 22-year-old Michael Angel Medrano. They were booked into Dallas County Jail.
They were charged with felony organized retail theft.
All four were released on bond soon after being taken into custody.
They each face up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
“We are very appreciative of the TABC’s quick response to this situation,” said Matt Metz, Southern Glazer’s executive vice president and general manager. “We are also grateful for the TABC agents who helped bring this case to a resolution.”
