A 58-year-old doctor at a children’s hospital in New York died after falling out of a moving house trailer as the wind blew the door open on an expressway.

Monika Woroniecka was employed at Stony Brook Medicine’s Pediatric Allergy and Immunology Department. She specialized in treating kids with food, environmental, and bee sting allergies, as well as, childhood asthma and skin conditions.

The doctor had been going to upstate New York to observe the solar eclipse with her relatives. They had been driving on State Route 12E in the city of Brownville on Saturday afternoon.

As Monika Woroniecka’s husband was towing the house trailer, she decided to spend the last 20 minutes of the ride inside of it with other relatives.

Those who had been traveling behind the house trailer reported to state troopers that they observed the passenger side door of the Airstream open and Woroniecka’s arm holding on to it following a strong wind. It isn’t known if she was attempting to close the door. Woroniecka was thrown from the trailer and hit her head on the shoulder of the freeway.

She later succumbed to her wounds at a medical facility.

Details surrounding who was inside of the moving house trailer when Woroniecka fell out hasn’t been released at this time.

An investigation is continuing.
